We founded in Princeton Designs in early 2017. The idea emerged out of a common sense that big box stores and online retailers are transforming our lives, pushing low cost, disposable plastic products from Asia. These cookie-cutter products are cluttering up our lives. The world is full of similar looking IKEA bookshelves, Target lamps and plastic Sony alarm clocks. While these products are functional and inexpensive, we have to be able to do better.
We are makers. We love designing products and working with wood. Out of these passions, Princeton Designs was born. Our mission is to make highest quality, easiest-to-use, and best designed clocks in the world.
We opened our office in downtown Princeton, NJ in early 2017.
To build our unique, hand-crafted clocks, we started out by leasing a small shared workshop near our office.
However, we underestimated the enthusiasm of the market for our product and we very quickly outgrew our original space. In April of 2017, we leased a 2,000 square foot workshop just south of Princeton, in central New Jersey.
As of May, 2017, we employ 5 full time woodworkers in our workshop in Hamilton, NJ.
There are a lot of alarm clocks out there. Our products stand apart because of our quality and attention to detail. We build clocks in small batches using skilled craftsmen (and women), use the highest quality materials, and take the time and energy do the job correctly.
The result is a clock we are proud to produce and one you will be proud to own.
Our wooden clocks will add to the beauty of your home and stand the test of time.
Not only are passionate about making the world's best alarm clock, we are committed to the communities we serve. Employees are encouraged (and paid) to volunteer in community non-profits, we sponsor scholarships at local universities, and we donate excess and obsolete inventory to nearby shelters. We do these things because it is part of our culture and our identity.
